Small Act -> Big Impact
Every person should be able to enjoy a live show without being harassed.
I had a proud mama bear moment tonight. A woman kept looking back at this man who was standing next to her and seemed very irritated. He kept touching her when she did not want to be touched (there was plenty of space). At one point, she waved towards the security guards to do something but they stayed put. Both parties seemed frustrated. People around shrugged and ignored it. I was 5 people away watching all of this.
Noticing this wasn't right, I walked straight over and literally stood between them without saying a word. The guy said something to me but I gestured that I couldn't hear him. Granted, he was shorter than me so I had a false sense of safety but it worked. The woman was finally able to enjoy the show.
After the show, he left with what I could assume to be his girlfriend (she had moved a few feet closer to the stage). The earlier woman and I started chatting. She said that he kept putting his leg in between hers and being inappropriate. When I shared that I had noticed her frustration and purposefully stood in between them, she was shocked and gave me a hug.
Small acts can make a huge difference in situations. We all have the right to feel safe- I'll stand up for you and I hope you will do the same for me
